Hey guys, Jim here.
I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during this Coronavirus crisis. I wanted to personally welcome you to my site. I sincerely hope you are enjoying the FAM Kemper Profiles.
A bit of backstory on myself and the FAM Kemper Profiles. I am a Berklee grad and have been a producer, songwriter, mix engineer/mastering engineer for well over 15 years, currently based in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
I began my journey with the Kemper 5-6 years ago. Though I loved the convenience, quality and accuracy of the Kemper I was never entirely pleased with the profiles available on the market. Particularly the lack of midrange punch and the overabundance of top end fizz.
I spent close to a year experimenting with pre amps, mic combinations, amp heads, cabinets and processing within Pro Tools. My goal was to develop FAM Kemper Profiles with plenty of mid range punch and gain while controlling the annoying fizz in the 3-8K range that we all hate, like really, really hate. The profiles are based around dual SM 57’s and in some instances blended with a third mic: AEA R92, Royer 121, Sennheiser 421, Neumann U87, Beyer 160.
Many profiles on the market remove the low mids to such a degree that there is no body left in the sound.
I wanted the FAM Kemper Profiles to be instantly usable and require as little EQ as possible while letting you, the user, decide how much of the midrange to keep in your guitar sound. Every mix and situation is different; you should be the one to decide what works for your sound.
Today I will be launching all of the social media for Finley Audio Machines. Join me on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I would really like to hear from you about the FAM Kemper Profiles, and hear your mixes, how you are using them, and what kind of amps or cab combos you might like to see in the future.
I am working on other products (more on that later) as well as all of my current music projects and artist development.
I am a fellow audio nerd; I live for this stuff. Let's chat anytime.
Cheers, Jim
